do you know this book? about a mans life being another mans dream...

Hi i read somewhere about a book where a man went through his whole life but he was just another mans dream, and the man who was dreaming him up was himself another mans dream. And when the man who was dreaming it all woke up, he became himself the dream of one of the men he was dreaming of.

I would love to find out what book this is if any of you know i'd really appreciate it!

No idea of the book but was it influenced by the Chinese Philosopher Zhuangzi whose dream is famous:

"Once Zhuangzi dreamt he was a butterfly, a butterfly flitting and fluttering around, happy with himself and doing as he pleased. He didn't know he was Zhuangzi. Suddenly he woke up and there he was, solid and unmistakable Zhuangzi. But he didn't know if he was Zhuangzi who had dreamt he was a butterfly, or a butterfly dreaming he was Zhuangzi."
