    Epic discussion by epic writers. Epic.

    I was goofing off at work reading threads on GameFAQs Books and Literature of all places and found these interesting articles.

    Only two parts? That ain't epic. Unless the third part is being delayed because it's too long and has to be split.

    A great article; thanks for the links.

    I think K. V. Johansen comes closest to my idea of epic fantasy:

    At its heart, what makes fantasy epic is its scope. The setting is usually more vast, the adventure is more far-ranging and more perilous, and what the hero is trying to achieve is greater than what, in that same world, an "ordinary" person might aspire to or be forced to cope with.
    Although Elizabeth Bear and some of the others are the best at describing why we read it.
