Chaos god of time soul gem (driving me nuts)

Hi all,

I am trying to find some books I read long ago. The basic premise is there are two sets of gods, chaos and order. The balance is off which is causing all kinds of world events.

The chaotic god of time is on the world but does not know who he is. In the course of the books he finds a gem that contains his soul and regains who he is.

At the end the gods of chaos are poised to defeat the gods of order but the god of time manages to stop them saying the balance needs to be kept.

This is driving me nuts and I can't find it anywhere.

Oh, also. I seem to remember he falls in love with a human woman and stops time in the castle that is the main story area.
