I'm out of fantasy books to read. Help!

Hello! I've been searching around like a madman for books to read lately, and i figured maybe i could turn to you guys for some help.

I haven't really read too much fantasy, but i've read some.
So far i've read the WoT series (Really liked these), Feist's Magician (Pretty much only liked Pugs PoV), Sword of Truth series (liked this one aswell),
The first coldfire book (Didn't like this one), Read some of the dresden books (didn't like them much, feels like Dresten always gets beat up, returns after preparing this and that, and saves the day), Earthsea series, and a few others i can't remember.
I loved the kingkiller chronicle books, too bad the third one isn't out yet :/

Anyhow! If anyone knows about books with a strong male protagonist, preferably one where he starts weak, and then grows to be stronger (If he uses big parts of the book trying to get better by training etc., that would be great).
He should preferably use magic, but that is not required.
It doesn't have to be single PoV, but the other PoVs should preferably be with other powerful characters, i don't wanna read 300 pages of some lame character hiding/whining or running away whenever there might be a conflict etc. Should also not be too many PoVs. No Sci-fi.

If anyone has a good book (preferably series, or really long books) in mind after reading this, please let me know!

The Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher is exactly what you need. The first book is called Furies of Calderon. The male lead, Tavi, begins as a kid without a clue of his destiny... And then proceeds to live that destiny over the next five books.

Huh oh, here comes Rob. lol

I have to say it, gotta read Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire. How about Robert Redick's Chathrand Voyage series, I always pimp this, especially cause I guess it was a surprise for me.

I've been putting off Martin's novels since i'm watching the game of throne series, and i feel, without knowing, that the series spoil what happens in the book, so i figured i'd wait until i start forgetting the series, then start on the books. I'm pretty sure i will love the series though (they are however not what i'm in the mood for reading right now anyways) :P

Chathrand voyage sounds like it mainly takes place at sea? In that case, yuck :P Doesn't really sound like what i'm looking for anyway? I will keep it in mind though

Preferably I want the protagonist to become really powerful in his field (be that magic or swordplay etc.), at least so much that he would not have trouble dispatching anything other than the "main villains" of the book.

Alot of it is mainly at sea, but there is so much cool stuff always going on.
Anyways, yeah ASOIF is awesome, I'm not real big on magic so I may not be the best to rec something.

Yes, wait until the Game of Thrones series finishes (or catches up with the novels) before reading the books, otherwise you'll spoil the TV show for yourself. And stay away from reading about it on the Internet!

Your preference for an uber-strong protagnoist is a bit weird. Oddly, R. Scott Bakker's excellent Prince of Nothing series ticks that box, but it's a series that is very different to the ones you have read so far.

Tavi is definitely your guy then. His power, prowess, and standing grows exponentially with each book in the series. It's one of those series where, by the time you're near the end, you can't believe the main protagonist came from such humble beginnings.

The world/setting is very well realized and the magic system is interesting and somewhat unique. I really think that any fan of fantasy would enjoy this series.

    Hi Padwart

We get a lot of "what can I read next" threads on just about a daily basis. We find that such posts usually get the same response. Actually looking at what's already on the Web site or utilizing our SEARCH function will usually answer most people's requests. Perhaps it is uncommon, but we like people to have a look around rather than just demand (even if it's polite!) immediate gratification for their own personal needs.

With such a large and complex site it can be difficult to see everything going on, admittedly. But if people think that there's answers out there they will point people in the general direction.

So, rather than people coming here and repeating the recommendations they've provided in other threads, I'll direct you to some of those threads:
