New book re: away team characters killed off?

I recently heard about a new book whose plot or premise is that the characters are in a Star Trek-like show and realize that they are being killed on away team missions and need to break out of the show. I don't know if it's a spoof on such shows or not but it sounds interesting. Anyone know the book I'm referring to?
