    New **Dragoneer Saga** Map

The Cartographer hasn't even seen this contrast adjusted version.
I posted the Wardstone map the other day.... This is from a different trilogy.

    Love the map!

Only thing I'd remove is the "Map of the Known Lands" tag, as it seems redundant and you'd never find that comment in a real map.

They are called the "Known Lands," because the survivors of a wrecked passenger ship washed up on those islands, and these are the Known Lands of their "new" realm. As factions broke away, forming the Outlands, Temple of Dou, etc... The map was continually updated. Thus it is called. The Map of the Known Lands.

The story starts two hundred years after the shipwreck, as the the growing population is forcing man from the islands. The denizens of the mainland are against the "Expansion."

    Blah, blah, blah... :-)

Gotcha, then Known Lands is good.

Perhaps, though, should only be "The Known Lands"? As it's clear that is a map? I don't recall another map that has "Map of..." in the main tag.

Oh well.... It was just uploaded in the newly formatted Kindle files as is.

One thing you may want to consider is the map accuracy.
Back in the days before satellites, maps were often rather sketchy.

People charted shores and such, but it was difficult to come with very precise top-down drawings, and there were lots of unknown spots, even after rail and steam came into play.

You might want to add some fog of war, especially the more you get away from the known lands. Just a suggestion, feel free to ignore.

Those are good suggestions, Igor, but this is a map from a trilogy that has been out a while. The old map was just a drawing I made with a sharpie and some cut and pasted printed name tags on it. (scissors and tape for real...ha ha) That old map is still in the paperbacks... lol

If you are not asking for feedback on the map, Mathias, then we will assume you are showing it to the Writing Forum members as an example of the sort of maps that can be done for series. Please make this clear next time you put up a thread like this, without unnecessary URL links. That way, you won't have other writers offering feedback you can't actually use.

It is for feedback I can use. Just not with THIS MAP.

I can get feedback on "my choice" of maps, KatG. It doesn't have to be pre-publish feedback does it? I mean knit-pick, knit-pick. BTW the urls go to sffworld.com threads, not off site.

And if you read the first post then you might gather that I was attempting to hear thoughts on this map vs the one I posted the other day, which HASN'T been put in an eBook yet. See they started the same colors and I adjusted the contrast on this one so it wasn't so dark.
If there is a problem with this thread then just take it down.

The overall look of the map, not the drawing itself, is what I was wanting feedback on. I will use the previous posters idea though.... The Wardstone map here: http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34450 might get modified per book to show the destruction from the previous volume.

So actually no suggestions have been made unnecessarily.
