Sci-fi Premise and Near-History
I’m writing a sci-fi trilogy which I call “Thought Tunnels.” I’ve published the first book, “The Ganymede Project” (http://ganymede-project.com), and am hard at work on the second one.
The books are set in the “near past” and explore the social dynamics of advanced alien technology thrust into the hands of humans.
My question is this: What other authors weave a science fiction premise with “near-history”? What do you like about these stories and what do you dislike? What themes do you find particularly relevant?
