This is the old school list. If I were to fall in with the general trend evidenced in this thread, and name newer series, I would probably go with The Folly by Ben Aaronvitch (though I haven't read the third yet), A Land Fit for Heroes by Richard Morgan (though I haven't read the third yet (mainly on account of it still being written)), and The Craw Trilogy by M.D. Lachlan (though I haven't read the third yet).
I like Abercrombie's standalones quite a bit, but his trilogy was slightly uneven for me despite some real high notes, so he narrowly misses out.
Interesting they are all Gollancz publications.
