Audio book list recommendations
I am compiling a list of not-too-violent science fiction audio books for the library here, and need some suggestions.
I like Alastair Reynolds, Frank Herbert, Larry Niven and Orson Scott Card the best. They write intelligent dialog.
Kevin Anderson is my least favorite author; Just too much gratuitous violence.
I liked David Brin’s stories of intelligent dolphins. Good descriptions of aliens.

Live Long & Suffer
Grover Gardener does the books by Lois McMaster Bujold quite well.

Plenty of people call them military sci-fi but they mostly are not in my opinion. Militarism is just part of the culture that Bujold uses but the stories are more about coping with life and the culture is one of the major obstacles in that it becomes part of your programming. This is highlighted by Mile's mother being from Beta Colony rather than Barrayar.

I don't like militarism but I real like the discriptions of aliens and their culture, as long as it is believable.
