    Your Favourite Fantasy Duo?

I've read a wide range of fantasy over the years, but one of the things I most enjoy is when you get a pair of characters who have great banter and work well as a team. One of my favourite fantasy duos is Gotrek and Felix (of Warhammer fame) but sadly it seems that characters like these only pop up once every while. I wonder, who are your favourite duo and can you recommend any worth reading?

I still haven't read all of the stories, but Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser are favorites.

And then there's Sam and Frodo. And Pippin and Merry.

Fahfrd and the Grey Mouser, but Siberian made me smile with the Han and Chewie suggestion.

Gimli and Legolas are a great suggestion. Who could forget their kill-count competition?

Oh, yeah. I forgot them. Vicious, bloody-minded, funny buggers. Good call.

Caim & Kit from Jon Sprunk's novels.

    Coming up close;
Lenk & Kat (Sam Sykes' Aeon's Gate)
'Shins & Olgun (Ari Marmell's Whiddershins series)
Nobby & Colon (Sir Pratchett's Discworld)
Angua & Cheery (Discworld again; this pairing doesn't exist as such but when they're together it's AWESOME)

Ugh, hard to recall all that I may have came across so the couple that just leap to mind immediately would be:

Tehol Beddict and Mael (Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series)
Quick Ben and Kalam (Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen series)

I've always liked the Harry and Michael dynamic in the Dresden files, they form a great team and their discussions are very revealing.

Royce Melborn and Hadrian Blackwater from the Riyria Revlelations are great fun and develop well together.

But I think my favorite would have to be Esme Weatherwax and Gytha Ogg, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, despite often being covened up with others it is clear to me they were always a double act.

Yeah. Granny W and Nanny Ogg work together really well. Granny W doesn't work too well on her own or with non-regular characters (see Equal Rites), but put her with a regular - Nanny Ogg mostly, but also Tiffany Aching - and she's excellent.

Shame Sir Pratchett's books are so inconsistent. Wyrd Sisters was rather poor, IMHO. Hoping Witches Abroad will be better when I (finally) get to it.
