Urban Fantasy: Threat or Menace?
Geek and Sundry has done a discussion on Urban Fantasy: Threat or Menace? over on YouTube. Authors Jim Butcher, Patrick Rothfuss, Emma Bull and Diana Rowland discuss their thoughts on UF for a whole hour. You can find it here
Just thought a few people here might like to check it out. People over in the Fantasy forum might like it too but, where I am 15 minutes in, it sounds more interesting to us writers. Enjoy!

Yeah, that was quite enjoyable. Funny hearing how Jim Butcher came up with Chicago as the home ground for his Dresden series.

It was interesting to hear their thoughts on how each modern city would have its own UF characters. What Butcher said about having to do politics in DC, everyone doing NYC, etc. it is true that each of those cities has a very different "normal" character. Why wouldn't their supernatural character be different from each other as well? Lots of good things to think about there. I'm looking forward to the next discussion.

We parley for nobody
That was great, loved every minute of it. Jim's story of how the Dresden Files ended up being set in Chicago had me laughing so hard.

Thanks! Terrific discussion.
I wish there were a text version; it was a bit tiring listening to it verbally. But well worth the effort.
Though they never did address the threat or menace topic!

I fail to see how it is either a threat or a menace.

Yeah, I really have no idea about the "Threat or Menace" bit. Maybe one of their planned discussion points was to touch on it and they never got around to it.
