I read a book, I think it was mid 90's, and thought the title was iron will- but that is getting me nowhere. It was futuristic, a guy flees some unexplained collapse of society on an electric bike. Falls in with a family that trades from an armored wagon, flees with their daughter when they are attacked and moves into a cave that he outfits from an abandoned farm, she has a kid and I think thats how it ends.
