Just finished reading the Book of the Short Sun saga and thought it was a fantastic read. Its a grand book with definitive fresh ideas on Sci-fi/Fantasy. You have a story with competing species, interstellar space travel, cyborgs, Gods subject to nature, and yet it seems that anybody who could do something fantastic was doing so in absolute ignorance... learning as went by. In short it was an amazing first person narrative.

Spoiler-

My question though is when did Horn become Silk? I think by the third book we the readers knew that Silk was indeed Horn.. much like the world in general.. we could only know this by context of the narrator. He only acquiesced by the end of the story.. the last lines to pin exactly. But when do you guys think the actual transformation happened?

I dont think its up for debate that Horn was always Silk... we know Possession is something that is possible in certain characters, be it by god, ghost, or another human. We know that the possessor is cognizant that they are indeed in possession but the possessed isnt necessarily aware of it. So if it was possession of some sort why isnt Silk aware he was possessing Horn? What happened to Silk's corporal form?

I like how Gene was obtuse as all night. Everyone was both smarter and way less worldly than the narrator. I loved the whole damn thing.... what are your thoughts on what happened?
