Both the UK and US releases appear to have been delayed until late 2012. That's certainly backed up by there being no UK cover art for it yet, something that wouldn't be the case for a book coming out in three weeks' time.

    this is the blurb:

Pitched between THE CROW ROAD and THE WASP FACTORY, STONEMOUTH is set in a small town north of Aberdeen and involves two warring crime families. Our hero was run out of town five years ago and now he's back for a family funeral - some closeted skeletons are about to appear!

As suciul pointed out, I don't think it's even 'M' Banks It was only included as a lot of SF fans seem to like his non-SF stuff as well (and a fair number of his allegedly non-SF books sometimes still have minor SF elements to them).

Yeah, I think Banks has suffered in the recession or something. He's gone back to a novel a year, alternating M and non-M, rather than a novel every 18 months. Which is great for his fans

Great North Road by Peter Hamilton

Never could put down any of his space opera books. (I haven't read any of the Greg Mendel books though)
