Astral Projection Movie -- Can't Remember?
Ok, this is an older film that's somewhere between 1960s-1980s...not sure.
There's a guy who can have out-of-body experience, or send his spirit out of his body, or can astral project, in order to cause vengeance against those who had wronged him. He is finally caught and put in jail. Some other character comes to him, a friend/cop/reporter (unsure), who asks the one with this ability to take care of someone who had wronged him (killed his wife maybe, or something) and the guy tells him: "First, I'll take care of me. Then, I'll take care of you."
So he continues to do what he does behind jail/bars.
It's believed that the main character is African American.
That's all I have. Hope ya'll can help.

Sounds more likely to be Psychic Killer from the story line. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0073586/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1

The movie is Psychic Killer. It was released in 1975. The main character in the movie is actually a white guy. An African American character shares with the main character the secret of astral projection. This character uses astral projection to kill people who did him wrong. A nurse neglected his mother, who died while he was locked away in a mental institute. The main character seeks revenge on her, as well as all the people he believed deserved to die.
Astral Projection is a reliable website on all things regarding astral projection, especially movies about astral travel.

I've been trying to get my friend who had me post this, but he hasn't looked into in detail yet. However, I do believe it to be Astral Factor, because he stated that the characters where in the movie shown here http://www.aveleyman.com/FilmCredit.aspx?FilmID=30080. Thank you so much for helping out with this!

I'll warn you it is a seriously stinky film. Though I treasure the moment where the director got the eyelines so badly wrong that Robert Foxworth's character appears to be having a meaningful conversation with Elke Sommer's navel. (Damn! I made it sound interesting....)
