    Conspiracy SF

Classic examples are The Matrix, Them!, X-Files, V and others. A friendlier version would be Men in Black. What do you think of this kind of SF or the conspiracy Theories that they are based on? At best, it's suspenseful SF, and it makes you question what is true and what is hidden?

Are you talking about near future Earth only or any kind of conspiracy?

The plot of Old Man's War contains conspiracy elements but you need to read the whole trilogy to see it.

The recent books of the Honor Harrington series, Rising Thunder, Mission of Honor and Storm from the Shadows are extremely conspiracy oriented in their plot.

Hmmmm..... I only read the first two and did not notice any hidden conspiracy. Maybe the 3ed book will open my eyes.

The 3rd book exposes some clues in the 2nd book.

while i agree (dont space me) i dont think scalzi is a good example of what isaac seems to be reffering to. the "conspiracy" really doesnt seem to be a major theme in the old mans war series.

Since this is clearly not limited to just books, I will throw out Babylon 5. The conspiracies really show up in the last half of the series.

You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. - Morpheus
It's 43 years after the Moon landing. World War II planes could do 400+ mph 25 years before the Moon landing. Are we supposed to believe that economists don't know about planned obsolescence of automobiles? When have you heard any big name economists talk about it though?

Sci-fi is about what we do with technology and what effect it has on us and society. But what happens when society is running on BS?
