Novmber 2012 Flash Fiction
So it’s that time of year again, and usually for the November flash we have either a Halloween or a Thanksgiving theme. How very parochial of us! We’re not doing that.
This year in the big wide rest-of-the-world, November 11th is the start of Diwali, the Indian festival of lights. Diwali is a fire festival celebrating the victory of good over evil, spiritual enlightenment, the harvest and the beginning of the new year.

See what you can do with one of those for a change. :-)
(To be clear, you don't have to actually write about Diwali itself, just some sort of festival along the above lines.)
As usual, 1000 words maximum limit and your story must be recognisably scifi, fantasy or horror.
Post your entries in the Stories sub-forum, and post a link here in this thread. Please label your submission clearly so it doesn't get lost, something like November 2012 Flash – Title of Story.
Deadline is Wednesday November 21st, Midnight GMT (ish).
Have fun.

LOL, I hope you meant to write curious that way, Slynt, best pun I've come across in a while... I'm going to try to be back on this one, the theme is definitively intriguing.

Well, I've started a piece but I'm a bit doubtful about it. I noticed Caedus's unlinked-to entry - currently 33 words invalid (winky) - and I think I'll wind up with something similarly ambitious but (due respect, Caedus) problematic. Pity, because I really like the promptheme. I will force it to the finish and submit, regardless of my likely dissatisfaction!

I'll be perfectly honest, I've pretty much pushed this month's contest from my mind. I hardly feel like I know what it is I'm even supposed to be writing about.
Also I started reading Red Country, so that's occupying my free time right now.

Okay, I may have gone a little sidewise to the theme, and ended up somewhere in left field.

Also, depending on which processor I use, I may be a few words over. And the story itself is kind of an experiment, which may or may not work out.
On the other hand, it may be the best thing I've written all month.

With NaNoWriMo going full steam, there was no way I was going to get to this. Sorry.

I did wonder if that was it, and I must admit work has been so mad this month I'm not going to manage it either (poor show when it's my comp, I know!). Oh well, we've got a few now thankfully - I was starting to worry I was running the first "zero interest" flash comp ever!

I don't know. Judging by my effort alone you might still be...
