Has no-one here read Roadside Picnic or Definitely Maybe??
I read Roadside Picnic for the first time quite recently and was sad to see this news, though my sadness is tempered by Mr. Strugatsky's respectable age.
Definitely Maybe seems like a difficult title to get ahold of. What other books of theirs are worth exploring?
The Final Circle of Paradise is also excellent - and strange - and although I haven't read it, Monday Begins on Saturday is also supposed to be well worth tracking down.
I hadn't read them before you posted this thread Ropie, but now they are both on my to-read list. Although it does seem that some of their other titles are harder to get hold of for a fair price. Hopefully they could be brought out as ebooks at some point? Particularly through something like SF Gateway.
A friend of mine recommended Roadside Picnic to me about a year ago. It was a very good read, I highly recommend it. Very sad to hear about Boris' passing.
Starman, if you look HERE you'll see a 'Books' tab near the top of the page - hovering your cursor over it brings up a list of 4 rare Strugatsky books that you can read online ;^)
Cheers for that Ropie!Although this is probably not going to help my online productivity...
