April 2013 Flash Fiction Contest
Welcome to the 2013 April Flash Fiction Contest!
Yes, it's Spring (here in the American Midwest, at least). A new season. A season of rebirth, new hope and change.
But you know what? Rebirth is for chumps. Hope? A meaningless word, a lie told to make us all feel better. Change? Well sure, but then everything changes, doesn't it? Doesn't matter if it's a season or a new scar, or maybe even that law you thought inviolate. Ask the Romans how much they liked change.
So, with that pre-emptive (and totally unnecessary) strike, I present the theme for April: The Fall. Interpret that as you wish.
Entries must fall under the classification of science-fiction, fantasy or horror.
Word limit is 1000. Or one thousand, if it suits you.
Entry deadline is the last second of April 24th, 2013, whenever that happens to be where you live.
Voting to conclude on Tuesday the 30th.

I'm liking this. Plenty of room for manoeuvre with the prompt, me thinks.

Congrats, Wulfen!
Not sure this will spark anything this month, but we'll see. Looking forwarding to reading/voting.

The Road Goes Ever On
This one sounds interesting. I'm in this month for sure. Funnily enough, I already have a piece of FF entitled 'The Fall', but I'll write something new I think.

Damn fool idealist
I have an idea. Whether it's a 1000-word idea, well, that's the trick.

Oh, hell, I used the prompt from Noumenon's short story contest. Entry withdrawn.

Sorry about that, HE. I looked at it and thought, did he?
It was a great title though, and I see no reason not to include it in the short story contest; why not expand on the original idea, give us some dialogue scenes between narrator and wife, the things that preoccupy him on his journey?

Here's my entry, then:
Fall to Grace
More of a historical piece than SFFH I'm afraid (I'll abide by your judgment on its validity, Wulfen), but I enjoyed putting it together anyway! Your mention of the Romans, together with the prompt, served to conjure this up, although maybe not in the most obvious way.

Even Flow - The Fall
Post apocolyptic Sci-fantasy, or something. Thanks in advance for everyone reading, and anyone who takes time to comment/ critique it

Attempting to keep the prompt in mind, concentrating furiously, concerned over another senior moment, I'm in again with The Pride of Lions.
