help me identify this book?
Hi guys!
My first post ehre
I wonder if you can help me find this book I read some time ago and enjoyed...
There is one big problem, though- I don't remember anything about it.
The only thing I do remember is something about the elves- they were their usual arrogant selves but also had a very easy going attitude towards sex. Nudity, casual sex etc. were normal in their society because it's all part of nature or whatever.
ideas?

argh I'm afraid not. It had a cliche fantasy plot and that's why I don't really remember much about it... you know what I mean- armies of darkness, a band of heroes etc. etc.
I didn't realize slutty elves were a common theme? All the fantasy books I've read had the frigid Tolkien type of elves. I just assumed that this was something original that would make the book easy to recognize...

I can't really help, but...
...I must say I share the sentiment that frivolous elves aren't the most common trait in today's fantasy literature.
Welcome to the board, InDUHvidual. I'm fairly new, so I'm not sure it's my place to do this, but oh, well, what the heck.
Well, if nothing else, I bumped the thread, so maybe someone who has read about and fallen in love with these sex-crazed elves will dare step forward and help you.
Greetings
Artaxiad
Mod note: I've removed your remark, Loras, as even the smilie face did not stop it from being very unnecessary. I think it's a topic best avoided, please. Thanks, Sammie.

Sex crazed elves? Hmmm. Perhaps you should talk with Shanoncia!

hehehe thanks.
I think I made the book sound like a romance novel/soft porn but it's not.
The elves were not really *slutty* they just had a different and more free attitude towards sex.
Interesting concept, though.

You know who wrote cliched books with gratuitous-but-not-blatant sex? Robert Lynn Asprin in his "Myth" series. I think they had elves in them - maybe it was one of those?

Anne Bishop's "The Pillers of the World" has elves that are very arrogant, self-indulgent, and very laissez-faire about sex - especially with mortals. They are for the most part very bratty. The main villian in this book is a mortal who hates magic and women and is out to destroy both. He wants to remake the world in his own image.

Thanks! Apparently the book I was looking for is called Elfbane. Some of the elves are indeed slutty harems owning type
That book you mentioned sounds interesting, sueVee. Maybe I"ll check it out!

"very easy going attitude towards sex. Nudity, casual sex etc. were normal in their society because it's all part of nature" does not remind me that much of Elvenbane and it's sequel. Maybe I don't remember it that well.

Yeah that's what I was thinking but then Elfbane might not be the same as Elvenbane.

d'oh!
Yeah I meant Elvenbane. Elf overdose... sorry.
You're right, cgw. I think I mixed themes from two different books because the elves/sex thing is unusual. I wonder what the other book was??
Now it's going to really bug me. bleh.

Elves and Sex: the only thing that springs to mind is Laurell K. Hamilton's (newish). Merry Gentry series
The first is A Kiss of Shadows , and the second is A Caress of Twilight. These are a mix of modern world and the faerie court (forget whether it is Seelie or Unseelie). There is sex at least once a page, possibly more
. I have only read the first one, and thought there was not much of a story there. But it is dark, and has good guys and bad guys, and a very natural attitude to sex among the faie. Good Luck
