I accept your peace offering most graciously, O Great Barbarian.
I'm definitely going to rent some of those GC games now that I (my roommate) actually has one.
Just curious, how many people are going to stick with the same companie's console when the next generation comes out?

I'll probably stay with Nintendo when the new console comes out, depending on the 3rd party support they have. And of course, if the system is a total piece of crap, I wont get it.

About 15 years ago or so, I got a Nintendo 64 (or something like that) and played a lot of Zelda. My ex and I loved the game, but it was so frustrating that we decided to ditch the system when we moved before we kicked in the TV set. :P
That said, I just bought my daughter (9.5 yrs.) a GameCube for the Solstice. I went for the GC because she is a big Pokemon fan. It just seemed that there were several games, like Mario and Zelda, that would be more appropriate for a young kid than the shoot'em ups I see on other systems. The real clencher (besides the price) was that it came with 4 Zelda games and a demo of the newest.
I also picked her up a copy of Animal Crossing which she just loves.
Any other games which you think are good for young'uns? We don't mind weird, bizarre or sexual, but we do shy away from heavy violence.

Thanks for the suggestions all! I'll keep them in mind when we go and rent some games.

Beginning to wonder about Prince of Persia:
My little brother just told me he beat it in 8 hours. What's with all these short friggin games? Lately I've found for a lengthy game you've pretty well gotta go with the PC. Mafia took me a couple months to beat (around schoolwork and all that) and I've only just scratched the surface on Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic's campaign mode.
Mario Kart DD IS SO CRAZILY ELECTRIFYINGLY GOOD! who do you guys pick? I always go with Baby Bowser and the Paratroopa in the Green turtle Kart. Bowser's Kart has to be the coolest thing ever devised though. I want one.
Also good is Rebel Strike. I got it for my birthday and I've been loving it. the running around levels suck (exception of Hoth). What's really great is that it has all of Rogue Leader on it in 2 player. Fun! fun! fun! Especially since i never really got to play Rogue Leader. Me and my brother are on the battle of Endor level and it's the best star wars level ever!

The brevity of PoP is the only reason why I'm not going out to pick it up at full price. People tell me it's worth it, even if it can be beat in 10 hours...but I don't like short games very much. Especially short, 1 player games.
Mario Kart DD...I'm liking it the more I play it.

I've actually stopped buying single-player games other than those for PC, since I can usually beat the entire game in the week or so Blockbuster gives you to rent it. There's really no point in buying them, unless they have some kind of awesome replay value, or just one of those games that is fun to play now and again. Multi-player games are just so much more for your money, since good ones can keep you playing for hours and days and weeks.

I just found Double Dash too slow. Add the AI is aweful. Give me F-Zero any day.

Does anyone else own a Sega Dreamcast? It was a really good console and had some of the best games ever made!
It was a pity Sega stopped making them.

Y'know, the Deamcast controller was pretty abominable, but that system really did have some great games.
