Thanks you for trying anyway! If you should be successful, I hope you enjoy meeting Parrish.

Wow, just noticed this thread. I loved Nylon Angel! You have fans in The Netherlands!!

I actually wrote http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk an e-mail, telling them that they should include Marianne de Pierres in their author-pages. They did a short while after that. I don't have the illusion it was my e-mail that did the job, but still....

Well, you never know, Phedre... Fantastic Fiction are quite receptive, I think. But I think it's great when the word gets round from fans....

Have you got as far as Code Noir yet in the Netherlands? I know normally what we get in the UK is what you get too.

    2 questions, Marianne -

    1) As Code Noir seems to follow straight on from Nylon Angel, were they originally seen as one book?

    2) When is Book 3 (Crash Deluxe?) due in the UK? (I should've finished Book 2 by then... )

I'm not far into it... but if you liked Nylon Angel, I think it would be safe to say you'll enjoy Code Noir too....

    Hi Phedre,
why thank you for doing that! You couldn't have done a nicer thing! Spreading positive words is a gift

    Hi Hobbit,

Crash Deluxe is out in June in UK and hopefully you will find it a fitting conclusion. I wrote NA as a single volume and soon as I finished it (before I sold it), I thought, 'this is a cool place, I think I'll hang around in here a while longer.' So I started the sequel. At some stage into Code Noir, I became disheartened and thought, 'why am I writing a sequel to a book I haven't even sold?' I stopped and began my current SO.

Not long after that, I sold Nylon Angel. As I returned to finish Code Noir, I found that it flowed more easily than NA had, probably because the world was already established and the plot is fairly linear. Crash Deluxe, however, takes Parrish back into Viva and I had to start creating new settings and characters again. I consider Code Noir, Parrish's darkest hours.

    Hi Bren,
thanks for posting that review. That was a cool one, huh!

    Hi Marianne,
I picked up Nylon Angel the other day purely based on the fact that I knew you were a SFFWorld contributor and an Aussie author. I read it in a few hours and have to say it was an entertaining, over-the-top, action extraordinaire. It felt a bit like watching a blockbuster that wasn't taking itself too seriously. I've noticed the follow ups around and will definitely give them a ago.

As an Aussie, some of the things about a future Australia worked for me and some didn't - I found it strange that there was such a large South American influence, but it wasn't noticeable from South East Asia. Also, the reference to Bundaberg Rum was slightly jarring when city names, etc have all changed (although I wouldn't be surprised if alcohol remained the one constant in Australia's future - throw in some VB next time hey?).
Would it be telling if you revealed where Vivacity was in modern day Australia?

Anyway, it was an enjoyable read. Keep up the good work!

    Hi Eventime,

thanks for dropping in to tell me your impressions. It is hard sometimes to decide what thinks to keep and what things to discard in a future scenario.
Not everything changes and I guess I figured Bundy rum will live forever!

Let me know how you find the other books if you read them
    best

    Marianne
