Four books and four books only!

I just finished a series called "A Dream of Eagles" by a Canadian Author, Jack Whyte.

The series is seven books culminating with "The Eagle" and it has two companion novels: "Uther" and "Clothar the Frank"

The series starts with the characters of Publius Varrus and Caius Britanicus starting a colony just east of Wales during the final years of the Roman Empire. By book 3 Caius Merlyn Britanicus and Uther Pendragon are born.

These books, while not technically fantasy because they fall under "Historical fiction" are well worth the read anyway.

I got on this huge Rome kick 2 years ago and it was cool to find a series that blended Roman history and myth.

No, what's it about?

This is an actual history text, but it's the best one I've read since "How the Irish Saved Civilization" It's more like a story than a dry text:

A novel about the life of Cicero. I read it many years ago and I remembered it always. The author is Taylor Caldwell.

Have you read or heard anything about this series? I just started the first book and it's great so far.

I hear good things about her, but I haven't read anything by her.

I'm reading a number of books now:

Lolita, Nabokov

American Pastoral, Roth

A Storm of Swords, Martin

A rather eclectic mix.
