Heroes Die - The Front Cover
Being a conscientious reader, when a friend of mine had to get a fantasy book as a present for a friend of hers, I recommended Heroes Die. I figured he's male, into fantasy, and probably would like something different. When presented with the book however, he was vastly amused at the cheesy front cover. I know there are several, and I have mentioned this one before, but Matt, Mr Stover, can you get anything done about this? Blade of Tyshalle looks great (as Shehzad's avatar attests) but Heroes Die...Big Bloke, Manly Pose. It just looks silly....Any thoughts or explanations?

And Caine is half Indian! To quote Matt, the guy on the HD cover is white-bread as it comes LOL.
From Stover's blog, it's likely they are going to re-release HD when Caine Black Knife is released, and Matt is going to make sure there is a new cover.

Gotta agree with that, Matt. I was reading it at the gym yesterday and I was getting some pretty strange looks. It looks a little like a gay porn novel.

I thought this was going to be the first time, Juzz. Man was I disappointed when I found out what Heroe's Die was really about.

Disappointed in Heroes Die, or that it wasn't porn?

I've gotta say, I kind of like the cover, at least in MMPB. Caine, to me, looks like he's saying,
"OK, who wants to poke the bear? I've got these knives, what have you got shitheel?"
I like the marble-looking background, too.

I agree he looks like he's saying 'who wants to poke the bear' but 'poke' as in the British use of the word!!!
To be fair, it didn't put me off the book, just be glad you didn't get a Barnes & Noble stand with that picture on it!!!

Fitz, are we talking about the same cover?
It's odd too, because the book is well written, very gritty and tough, just the opposite of what you might expect after looking at the cover. Whoever designed it likely didn't read the book.Last edited by Gary Wassner; March 7th, 2005 at 11:06 AM.

Fair enough Fitz though it is pretty close! The Manly Pose in Heroes Die is just short of that other book cover, both deeply cheesy anyway..Heroes Die needs a cover like Blade of Tyshalle. I wonder if the artist responsible is likely to take a peek on this site? If so, I wonder if as Gary says, they hadn't read the book when they drew it? They can't have as they got his race wrong and the general feel of the book too haven't they?!

That second cover is hilarious! Is that a German cover or something?
