Out of town with work all week, some good looking entries so far. I have three started ideas I'm trying to whittle down, enjoying playing with all three though.

I have a feeling my December entry will be much better, if there is one

Argh! I hate these vague themes. I have a bazillion ideas. One that I have written all the way through, and three others that demand to be written. I am trying so hard to limit myself to one...
Can I make a request? Whomever wins this month, can you pick a more specific theme or scenario? Pluuueeeaase?
(sulking under my rock)
EDIT:
Hey, I have a question...
...wouldn't it be cool if someone (like me) took the time and put together all of the 2009 winning entries (edited, of course) into an e-book that SFF World could then sell over on Amazon shorts or something? Proceeds to be donated to SFFWorld.com? Dumb idea? The selling part of the idea could definitely be bagged, but I thought the e-book idea would be pretty cool to have. Well, I think it would be kind of nice, no?

Okay, I think I came up with something interesting,
http://www.sffworld.com/community/story/3992p0.html
Enjoy, and ... it's never too early to decide to vote for this story.
(I know, shameless)
Well, at least consider it.

tmso, why not sell? ... and why not go back to the first contest (a ghost story I believe). You'd have to contact the authors and make some kind of deal

Well, it might get complicated, but as long as it was fairly simple and it was what everyone wanted, yeah, let's try to sell this baby!

Because I hadn't thought of that, but sure, why not? When was the first one?

Yeah, that would be the complicated part...but I'm willing to tackle it (just for fun). What do others think? Obviously, the folks who have won would be the opinions I would be most interested in, but anyone is more than welcome to weigh in.

I'm suprised the idea of compiling these hasn't come up sooner. I'd have no problem contributing anything I've written to such a project.
If you really wanted to get fancy, you could even ask the authors to go into a little detail about why they chose to tackle each theme the way they did, maybe as a sort of introduction.

Woohoo! I got two so far that are willing. B5 (you have won one of these, right?) and DailyRich. Anyone else?
FYI - I started going back on this writing forum to find all the previous contests and I can't seem to find the first one. Is there a way to search for just the polled threads?
Also, I'm thinking it might be better to keep them organized by year. So, we'd have one e-book representing each year.
Oh, another complication. What about folks who have gotten these published elsewhere or are trying to get them published elsewhere? Hmmm...complications...

I'm in for whatever, tmso.
I agree - A by year thing would probably be for the best.

Not that I know of, but you can use key words like "vote", I used "flash" and found them, including this:

Yearly isn't a bad idea, but keep in mind we didn't have a contest every month at first. I have all my stories of course, I'm just not sure if I know which contest I might have won. I'll take a look

Ok, three takers, plus me (supreme dictator of this project) - that makes four - which means a majority!
Here's the plan so far:
1) list all the past winners by year
2) contact all the winners via PM to get their buy in
3) figure out all the rest
I'll keep you all posted via my blog on this forum? (I'll have to go start one.)
I LOVE projects like this.

hi everyone!!!
Here is my entry for this month so eloquently called "Hunger and thirst".
http://www.sffworld.com/community/story/3998p0.html
I must, for some reason I can't explain, write a disclaimer:
My story came out somewhat darker and more explicit than originally intended. I can't say why it came out that way or even why I myself think of it that way. So you are warned. This is definitely not PG-13.

Yikes SF!
I'm still working on mine...but it's dark too. I wonder if October's theme is spilling over to this month...
