First trilogy? The Monarchies of God is a five-book series and his first three books were stand-alone.

Good review. I thought the original title, The Stars We Sail By, was better though.

Thanks This Forsaken Earth went by a few titles prior to release and I think the one they settled on is just a continuation of the theme in the first book, Mark of Ran, about the world being essentially damned and Rol probably with it. Mark of Ran review coming soon (I know it's arse-backwards but that's how I got the books )
