Joe Abercrombie

Greetings all...

Does anyone have the 3rd installment of this series? I know it's not in the US but perhaps someone would lend it out :-)

Thanks
Kat

I got mine from the book depository for around 13 US dollars I think. If my math is right, its actually cheaper to buy from the UK than it will be to get it here (if you pay full retail).

I just wish the books were available in digital form for my Sony Reader. I own all 3 in trade pb..considering using my camera as a scanner to get these into digital form for my Reader..as i REALLY want to read them, but am hooked on the Reader now.

I'm still trying to read the first one.

In my 63 library network, 6 of them have the second book but not one has the first. Frustrating.

And since I have a deal with my wife that I only buy books that I have already read and have deemed worthy of going on the permanent shelf, I need to push my local library to buy a copy.

Joe, that is quite funny. I am only a lurker and had no idea you were part of this community BUT I should have known. I want to read the 3rd one which will seal the deal (if it's as good as the first 2) for the whole series being bought and installed on my shelf. There are VERY few books that I will re-read and these may be part of that elite. So must I buy the 3rd now or will you loan me a copy to determine if I will in fact buy them all? And if not, when will this be released in the US?

You might say a few people have the book, check out this thread right here on the first page: Last Argument of Kings by Joe Abercrombie. Beware of spoilers, though.

Click through the forums and you'll notice the topics dedicated to Joe's books are some of the livelier and more active discussions. Granted, every other post is by Joe himself just to keep the threads going (J/K), but he does have a great many fans 'round here.

I had that problem originally, but I just waited a week or so and they put it back up for sale.

I am in Savannah, GA so at the risk of sounding silly, what is the Book Depository? I check my books out from the library initially and depending on how good they are, I buy them. I requested that my library purchase #3 (as I did 1 and 2) and she told me it is not available yet in the US.

Hobbs...Book Depository, located here is a UK website where you can order books. They have FREE wordwide shipping, which is pretty awesome. With the current exchange rate and free shipping, you get can get some UK only books at fairly good prices. Every book I have ordered (3 of them) has come within 8 days of ordering..so the shipping is fast and free. I would highly recommend them for any books you want that arent available in the US. If you search the forum, i think there are 1 or more threads dedicated to book depository that would have more info.

bookdepository.co.uk sells books with free and fast shipping from the UK to the USA and many other parts of the world. The discounts are a little less than Amazon, but still the UK books are a very good deal.

They appeared around 2006, founded by some ex-Amazon guys - check their mission statement makes for very interesting and ambitious plans - and I've been using it a lot. I bought over 30 books from them and they all arrived very fast, usually about a week after I placed the order - faster than many orders from Amazon USA with super saving free shipping. It probably helps that I live in a NYC suburb, but I think that it should not take more than several extra days to get a book anywhere in the USA.

The last 2 orders Line War by N. Asher - ordered April 1st, arrived April 8th, and Last Argument of Kings by J. Abercrombie - ordered March 20, arrived March 27.
Next order will be House of Suns by A. Reynolds, any day now when they list it, and I am wavering on The Ninth Circle by A. Bell which has been listed yesterday, but I am not sure about, though at about 18$ I may get it if I can find an excerpt and I like it since it sounds cool.

I tried ordering this from the book depository.

Placed my order, waited the full time, it never came.

I e-mailed them to ask what was up and they said they were sold out so never sent it. Extremely rude of them not to tell me, and they never refunded me until I inquired about it.

I found it at a book store in the U.S., had to pay like 20 bucks for it, but whatever, I always shop smart on books so decided I could splurge this once as the First Law could be one of my favorite series ever.

Thanks for that, wolfbrother: that's the first bad news I've heard about book depository, everyone else here has been so positive.

Forewarned is forearmed, therefore: I guess we treat with caution. Shame to think about how many customers they could be missing!

I just ordered my first book from bookdepository 2 dats ago. I was undecided whether to get it through them or to get it through abebooks where they have those 1 dollar deals. After calculating shipping cost, i realised that it was cheaper to get it through booksdepository

I'll update you guys on how my order went. Especially for the audience staying in the Asian region. (i know a few of you are reading this )
