old british sci fi search
Hi all
Please can you help.
I am trying to find the name of a film:
It's Black and white and set in Britain and I believe is a British film
There is a car crash a with a drunken guy and his lady and then a hospital
It all takes place in one night and involves nurses being taken over by alien forces/beings
I's a really hot night - all very intense and sweaty and atmospheric
I saw it one night on late tv and have been trying to track it ever since
feels like it could have been made around the time of the day the earth caught fire
appreciate any clues...

I haven't found enough info to make this more than a wild guess, but maybe, Unearthly Stranger. Stars John Neville (The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen, The X-Files, etc.).
At any rate, I saw this years ago and thought it was very good for a movie I'd never heard of.

It sounds like a great film but it is not the one i am thinking of...

I think you are thinking of The Quatermass Xperiment released in the U.S. as The Creeping Unknown. 1953?
Good movie.Spaceman taken over by plantlike alien lifeform.
Then again maybe not. I think Xperiment was in color.

It doesn't seem to get v good reviews but I really liked it...
Now i need to find a dvd copy somewhere...can only find vhs.
