It was the night before Katrina's wedding to the Russian Captain. The Navy's ship was docked at the mouth of the Russian River and the fiesta was on. She could hear the servants in the kitchen and the Mariachi's were playing a little flat. She knew how important her marriage was to her family and most of all, how the captain can now own land in Alta California. Their marriage would change the history of the area forever. Katrina cried as her mother combed her hair. Her mother knew how much she loved Pedro the ranch hand from the mission. Tonight at the big reception she would escape with Pedro and never return to see her mother. But most imposrtant she would never have to kiss the Russian's drunked lips again!
