Interview with Mark Haeuser

(2001-02-23)

Q: Can you tell us a bit about "The Protectors"?

A: The Protectors is the first book in a trilogy and sets the plot for thesecond two books, basically it unites the main players.
The Second Coming refers to the God of Death trying to make his way intothe realm of man for the second time in one thousand years. It is up to theheroes to thwart his attempts.

Q: How did you come up with the idea for The Second Coming series?

A: The idea for the series was originally inspired by the song The Wizard byOzzie Osbourn and another song of that title by Urian Heap. I have alwaysenjoyed the combination of powerful warrioprs and mighty wizards. In thisstoryline there are also three mythical animals who join the heroes. Aunicorn, dragon and wolf.

Q: What are you usually inspired by when writing a book?

A: I am inspired by the words that I have created the day before. As the storyunfolds on the screen before me I am constantly striving to out do theprevious books or pages of a book.

The Second Coming Trilogy is my fourth published book and even though theothers are action style fiction I try to create original stories and stayaway from the mainstream.

Q: When did you first know that you wanted to be a writer?

A: I have been writing since high school but have never followed throughuntil four years ago when Battleground USA became a reality withBattleground USA The Beginning.

Q: What plans do you have for the future?

A: My future plans are to some day have a large publisher recognize my talentsand sign me to a hefty contract.
I really would like to write fiction for a living,.

Q: Who are some of your favorite authors? What are you reading right now?

A: My favorite author has always been Steven King as both a writer and apersonal example to me.
I have just finished a novel titled Heartless written by Stephen Doyleanother iuniverse author. It was very good and could compete with Grisham.

Q: What has the Internet meant for you as an author?

A: The internet at this time has helped me spread the word. I am waitingto see if it has helped with sales. I know that by joining some of theauthors groups I have gained 100 or so more web page hits a day. If thesefolks are ordering the book remains to be seen.
I am currently working on Battleground USA 5 as well as a lawenforcement story titled Black Ops. A vampire story I wrote is in a conteston merlinhouse.com.

Battleground USA 2 Las Vegas is at iuniverse now and will be availableshortly.
