There I was going to Malaspina College in Nanaimo, B.C. and a big new video store called Megamoviesopened up. We started going there due to there extensive horror collection it wasn't long until Things came home with me as part of one of those 7 movies/7 days/7 bucks deals. I watched it alone...By the first 1/2 hour I knew I was on to something very special because although I utterly hated the film thus far I couldn't bring myself to turn it off. From the ridiculous dialogue to the single, repeated noise made by the monster.Hell there're way too many continuity problems to even list, I mean God man the audio sounded different in every scene. But this made for an excellent game to play, every time I watch I'm amazed by the new things I find that I missed last time. It truly is a movie every B movie fan must MUST see!I guarantee that you will almost be brought to tears like the rest of us by the time the end of movie painfully comes around. Then something will happen because you're so worked up about this film you feel compelled to tell everyone you know about it (hence the cult begins).Everyone thinks they know the worst film made but Barry, you nailed it on the head with this one. Yet it is easily the most fun movie to watch (only AFTER the first time). In closing:We own this movie and feel strongly that every horror movie buff MUST have it in their collection!

Submitted by John. Macdonald (Jun 07, 2000)THINGS (1989) Recently I decided to watch a movie I saw when it was recently released in 1989. I bought it, felt ripped off, etc... However, I gave the creature feature, a second look. It was in my great collection of horror films rotting away... Until now. I have since watched it 9 times in the last 5 days. At the time I failed to realize the importance of this great feature. What what spawned me to watch it agin, and go through my horror handbook collection, (PSYCHOTRONIC VIDEOS latest edition, The FRANKENSTIEN HANDBOOK, and The GOLDEN RETRIEVER HANDBOOK) was a website I came accross on the net, with various information about this film... Anyway I watched it again, and again, and I will be watching it yet again tonight.
This movie is worse than plan nine from outer space, and that is what makes it so good. I like many of the gore effects, and I believe that this film will go down in history as one of the greatest cult films of all time. I agree with the guy over at imdb.com, who believs that this is the most amazing film ever made. It is...It is the craziest film I ever saw. It is a mix between the old John Waters stuff, the Rocky Horror picture show, Evil Dead, and Last house on the left. For some reason, it also reminds me of I spit on your grave. It is brutal, bizarre, beyond BIZZARE... It is frightening, and gives me the creeps.
Their is an evil doctor in it, who is a very sick, sivck, man... For some reason, I am led to believe that this guy is possibly like this in real life. I agree with the video graveyard review at imdb.com, as well, when he says it is the worst horror film ever made, so bad that it is actually good. This film is now my favorie all time horror movie... It is so funny, that you will laugh from begining to end... Why I left it on the shelf all these years, I'll never know. This Barry J. Gillis has a new feature film out called WICKED WORLD. I counted something like 49 killings, and this is the bloodiest film I have seen in a long time... I would put it up there with my 15 best films of all time. . These guys really know how to make the audience laugh at horrific scenes of violence. Amber Lynn, my favorite porn stars from the 80's is in things too. In her mainstream debut. This alone to see is worth the cost of buying the movie.
As I said, I bought things many years ago, but I just bought wicked world off this website: www.barryj.gillisfeaturefilms.tvheaven.com. I also did not know that this Gillis guy was a writer, until, I visited the site. I am ordering his Edgar Allan Poe book reincarnated... I guess he sees himself as Edgar Allan Poe. Who knows with these weird people. All I know, is that I am now a fan....
