Submitted by jpalermox@yahoo.com (Apr 04, 2003)An American U-boat in the North Atlantic during WWII comes upon a sinking British merchant ship and picks up three survivors. Soon, strange occurances begin to happen across the ship and neither party turns out to be what they seem...
Below opens well, with good sub-antics (or what passes for good in a post "Das Boot" universe) and solid acting. There are no notable players here, but all are fairly solid B-graders. The film does a decent job of presenting a mystery and piling on the tension but in the last reel, it slowly disintegrates. Not entirely, mind you, but it just gets 'fast-forward-ish' and you see the end coming long before it actually gets here.
Worth a look if you're a genre-head like me. But don't get your hopes up.
Below is directed by David Twohy (Pitch Black and currently filming its sequel: "Riddick" with Vin Diesel).
