Submitted by filmfactsman (Jul 31, 2005)An expertly executed mystery shocker. This was one of the dozens of thrillers on the order of PSYCHO made in the early 60s. An effectively chilling little film that depends on suspense and sudden story twists to generate its thrills. It delivers on both surprisingly well. The story is so clever and the ending was such a surprise that theater-goers were not admitted during the picture once it began (shades of PSYCHO). It all takes place in a creepy villa in the South of France, complete with flapping shutters, flickering lights and whistling winds. Susan Strasberg does very well indeed as the young heiress. Her screaming is absolutely first-rate. The story you'll have to see for yourself but I can guarantee that you won't be disappointed not for one hair-raising moment!
