I've been told that reading the Spanish subtitles makes it not worth watching. To be total truthful, I think that it makes it that much better. It makes it even less of this world and more for the unknown. Only about 5 minutes into the movie you don't even notice it anymore. In the beginning, before the fantasty really kicks in, you get a taste of war. Seeing this made me doubt this would be a movie for me, war is not my cup of tea, but you need that to create the villian. The creatures that Guillermo Del Toro created are insane. The pale man is something real nightmares are made of and the fawn, although scary in this own way, is the kind of creature you would want to befriend in your dreams. The ending caught me by surprise and kind of confused me a little. It leaves you wondering if the whole thing was real and just an adventure she created in her head to get away from it all. I think this is what Del Toro intended. You kind of get the believe what you wish.
