Dracula 2000 was an all right movie. I enjoy the touch of romance that sparks between Mary Van Helsing and Dracula, but I did not like the fact that it did not seem real. Of course, this is a vampire movie, but if Dracula was so powerful, how come Mary did not really succumb to him? Was it because she was a Van Helsing? Gerard Butler was a fine Dracula, but his performance lacked in its carnal appeal. Typically, vampires tend to have an intimacy about them, but nothing really seemed to resonate from him. I found the movie kind of hollow in plot and emotion. It does not seem to really captivate or suck the viewer into the story. If there was more to Dracula and Mary's story, then that might have been something.
