Superman The Animated Series

Superman The Animated Series features eighteen episodes which is the series entire first season of thirteen episodes plus five from the second.

As I mentioned in another review, Superman has always been one of my childhood heroes so I might be a bit biased. 

The episodes I enjoyed the most were the first ones where we are told the story about the doomed Krypton and how Kal-El is sent away to earth by his real parents and ends up with the Kents. Later episodes do, of course, take us to the age-old battle between Superman and Lex Luthor as well as Clark Kent's job at the Daily Planet where we also find Louis Lane and the other familiar characters. Throughout the episodes we also get to meet a lot of other superheroes and supervillains like the Flash, Lobo, LiveWire, Metallo, Brainiac and several others.

Bonus material includes "Superman learning to Fly" which explores the creation of the series and "Building the Mythology" which showcases the supporting players in the Superman saga. Four of the episodes also feature commentaries by the series creators.

All in all a very interesting set of DVDs if you're into Superman.
