CatwomanWith what I'd heard about this movie I didn't have great expectations before watching it. I was more or less expecting another movie similar to Daredevil, which I found to be a major disappointment totally devoid of any plot. So in that regards I was positively surprised by this movie.
It's not a movie that will go into the history books, but there is a story with some twists and turns. Patience Philips, played by Halle Berry, is murdered after she learns some secrets about the cosmetic company she works for. Then she's revived to life by this mystic cat, becomes Catwoman, and I guess it's safe to say that you can guess the rest of the story from there on.
I like to think of this movie as one of those that falls in the category to watch when you're simply looking for some light entertainment.
To say that there are any extraordinary acting performances in this movie would be to greatly exaggerate, but I think Sharon Stone as Laurel Hedare is the one emerging from this with the best acting performance.
Also worth mentioning is some of the bonus material on this DVD which includes an alternate ending which actually was closer to the ending I expected than the real one. Another of the bonus features is a documentary, "The Many Faces of Catwoman" where we get to meet other actresses who have played Catwoman throughout the years.
This is a movie where you pretty much get what you expect and if it's pure entertainment you're looking for it's probably as good as any in that category.
