Yu-Gi-OhI must admit that when I first sat down to watch this movie I stopped after a few minutes. I simply didn't get it, what's this dueling and this card game all about? I'll admit it, I'm probably too old and not exactly the target group for this movie by far, but then I picked up a couple of issues of Shonen Jump and read the Yu-Gi-Oh series there.
When I once again sat down to watch it suddenly made sense. From my point of view watching this movie was a learning experience into a world I've not been and I actually found that I enjoyed it. For the kids that are already into Yu-Gi-Oh I'd expect this would be an entirely different experience. Some would probably argue that this is just a long commercial designed only to sell more of the games and comic books.
I would say that this movie has more to it though. Yugi goes up against his archrival Kaiba in yet another battle, but there are even darker forces at play and the dangers of the monsters suddenly becomes more real than anyone could expect.
If you're already a Yu-Gi-Oh fan you will probably enjoy this movie and if you're not it could be a learning experience into a new world.
