Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (2005-08-06) It seems that Konami have leaked some early details regarding the highly anticipated Pro Evolution Soccer 5 (PES5), the next edition to their highly-acclaimed football series. The game will include at least four new stadiums: Riazor (Deportivo la Coruna, Spain), Saitama (Urawa Red Diamonds, Japan), Mastella (Valencia, Spain) and Newlands (Ajax Cape Town, South Africa), although no confirmation has been made regarding its online playability. Konami is obviously under pressure to deliver in this area should it wish to keep those potential buyers - though the hardcore fans are bound to stay loyal.
Producer Shingo Takaska says he'd love to see players go head to head using their Master League teams online, the only obstacle being the shortage of Broadband access gamers seem to be cursed with. Aspects that have been confirmed are the improved Master League system and John Terry's seat in the commentary box. Another is the new weather condition: snow - allowing players' breath to be seen as they make that all important challenge! Also, two new positions have been added - wing-back and 'in the hole'.
In terms of graphics, the improvement are quite small, though we should be in for a pleasant surprise regarding the player and ball physics, all adding to the realism of shots, passing and off-ball movements. Overall this looks to be another landmark title, scheduled to hit UK shelves this October.
