For all the guitarists out there who think it's time their favourite instrument went virtual, well here's the news you've been waiting for. Guitar Hero for the Playstation 2 will soon be released, and will come with a guitar shaped controller which has been specially designed for the game. It includes 5 fret buttons, a whammy bar and a strum bar. The game itselft has several licensed songs - Boston's "More Than a Feeling," ZZ Top's "Sharp Dressed Man," and Franz Ferdinand's "Take Me Out" - just to mention a few.
The gameplay is very simple and basically works by running a continuous fret bar along the bottom of the screen which displays the notes you are required to hit. Whether or not this title is going to be a success or let-down will have to wait, but from what I've seen it could be an enjoyable alternative to the real thing - the arcade feel is certainly there.
Guitar Hero will be available on November 8th, priced $69.99 (controller included).
