Pestered by fans, science fiction author John Scalzi agreed to visit the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky in the U.S. and write about the experience on his website if he received a minimum of $250 U.S. in donations for the activist organization Americans United for Separation of Church and State. If he received $1000 in donations, Scalzi promised to sweeten the pot by giving an appropriately themed short story and one other creative gift to each donor. By the deadline of June 15th, 2007, Scalzi had received $5,118.36 U.S. in donations and will stand by his word, planning to visit the museum, which has exhibits on the religious philosophy of creationism, sometime in the summer.
