Warner Brothers and Joel Silver's Silver Productions have bought the film rights to Orson Scott Card's sf novel Empire and have put it into development. Empire is set in a chaotic near future U.S. in which the President and Vice President have been assassinated and civil war has broken out. A team of special forces operatives try to patch things back together. Warner Brothers also has the rights to Card's acclaimed sf novel Ender's Game, but no further news on whether that film will really happen or not.
