Games - PSP killer app (2005-01-11)
Sony is really bringing all the big guns to the PSP in order to take over some of Nintendo's market share. Several big name releases have made their way into the news today.
Starting with a confirmed update of Devil May Cry 3. Although the PS2 version has yet to hit the streets a PSP-improved version has been confirmed by Capcom although they were silent over a release date they did say that there would be gameplay enhancements specific to the PSP.
Also confirmed was an updated Tony Hawks UnderGround 2 with four new, PSP exclusive levels set in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Kyoto and Santa Cruz. Scheduled for a release date in the Spring, THUG 2 fans will undoubtedly be queueing up for World Destruction Tour goodness.
Franchises really dominated the announcements with March releases confirmed for;
Dynasty Warriors PSP, a faster more engaging version of the big selling KOEI series.
Tiger Woods Golf, a brand new version which fully uses the wi-fi connection so you can play Skins tournaments with PSP-owning friends. Whilst also containing modes for multi-player fun on a single PSP.
Need for Speed Rivals, another new version of a top-selling franchise including all the latest mods, cars but seemingly no Kelly Brook.
Wipeout Pure, a return to form for the awesome PS1 series that failed to impress on PS2, 'Pure' impressively includes the ability to download content such as maps, vehicles and weapons after purchase.
Fifa Football, which seems to have suffered no translation problems at all and instead boasts all new tournaments, game modes and specific wi-fi options.
In addition a direct port of the brilliant movie license Spiderman 2 will be available on the PSP's launch day.
