Games - Confirmed PSP release (2005-01-14)Thats right, it seems the folks at Amazon jumped the gun somewhat, but were pretty much spot on. Sony have confirmed that their handheld PSP will be released in the UK on March 25 with a price tag around £150 and games costing approximately £25. With PSP selling out within days in Japan, all expectations are that the UK and Europe will follow suit in purchasing the next piece of killer app from the Japanese giant.
Several more games have been confirmed for launch date release including;
Medievil, a Sony in-house game that was notable for its absence on the PS2 after a promising debut on PS1.
Ridge Racers, another franchise like Wipeout that suffered quite badly on the PS2 but has seemingly redeemed itself on the small screen - its currently getting rave reviews in Japan for its speed.
This Is Football 2005, Sony's attempt to play with the football/soccer big boys ISS and Fifa has met with average reviews on PS2 and with the promise of a flawless conversion this could be the first distinctly average game on the PSP.
Colin McRae Rally, arguably the definitive rally franchise on any format, Colin McRae's is a brand new version with loads of cars, tracks and tuning options.
Added to the multiple third party games we have yet to see fully, there could be a considerable number of games available at launch. It is however the monster franchises like GTA, Devil May Cry and Metal Gear Solid that will truly define the PSP's place in the market. A more defintive list of launch games will be posted near to launch time.
