Games - Snake's late but great (2005-01-14)Although European gamers will eventually see Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater four months after their Japanese and American brethren there will be a few good reasons to be smug. The European release will feature exclusive content that wasn't available in either the Japanese or US versions.
The first exclusive is the Duel mode that allows you to simply play each of the boss battles consecutively without having to worry about the main storyline. With MGS notorious for its superb and innovative boss battles, Pyscho Mantis and Raven in the first game anyone?, this could be a really enjoyable extra as long as we have to beat them in the game first. The second mode, much like MGS2, is the Demo theatre that allows you to watch all of of the cut scenes from the game back-to-back so that those confused by the plot, I certainly was by MGS2, can watch a movie of the game to make it all seem clear.
Konami are set to release details for more bonus features nearer the release date some time in March, a few VR missions certainly wouldn't go amiss Konami.
On other MGS related notes - Konami have confirmed that work has already begun on the next MGS, but you'll have to wait until the PS3 to play it unfortunately. Rumours have started circulating about the possibility of an MGS movie which have yet to be denied by either Konami or the supposed director Ryuhei Kitamura, famous for the most recent Godzilla movie and some gruesome zombie horror flicks. Lets hope they are true so we can once more worship at the altar of Hideo Kojima.
