Tachyon Publications Goes to the Dogs (2008-06-18) Tachyon Publications Goes to the Dogs
Tachyon Publications wants to see your dog. The Dogs photo contest has begun and readers worldwide are sending in pictures of their beloved pets. The contest celebrates the July 1st release of Dogs, the thrilling new novel of bioterrorism and international intrigue by award-winning science fiction author Nancy Kress (Beggars in Spain). Email your favorite pictures of your dog by July 31st to dogs@tachyonpublications.com, with the Subject heading: My Dog! The pictures will be featured in an online gallery. A judging team at Tachyon will pick three dogs and their owners to win a special gift pack, including a signed copy of Dogs and special doggy treats. Dogs features ex-FBI agent Tessa Sanderson, who has moved to Tyler, the sleepy Maryland town where she is trying to forget the tragedy of her husband’s death. But her peaceful new life will be shattered, as her new neighbors are suddenly and viciously attacked by their own beloved dogs. The CDC quickly determines that the dogs are infected with a mutated flu triggering the aggression center of their brains; the virus is highly transmissible and there is no known cure. While the feds ruthlessly enact a secret emergency quarantine, suspicious locals prepare to protect their pets by any means necessary. Tyler is ready for war.
While struggling to assist the enigmatic Animal Control officer Jess Langstrom, Sanderson is protecting two dark secrets: she is the widow of an Arab who roused the suspicions of her FBI colleagues, and someone is sending her threatening emails in Arabic claiming responsibility for the virus. Already a suspect and running out of time, Tessa Sanderson must go deep undercover in order to expose a deadly conspiracy.
Nancy Kress is the author of over twenty-books, including the critically acclaimed Beggars in Spain, Probability Moon, and her best-selling, non-fiction Writer’s Digest series, Write Great Fiction. Kress’s work has been translated into sixteen languages and she is the recipient of the Nebula, Hugo, Sturgeon, and John W. Campbell Memorial awards. She lives in Rochester, New York with the world’s most spoiled toy poodle.
