AUDIENCES INVITED TO 'DISCOVER' LEICESTERSHIRE'S NEW SCIENCE-FICTION, FANTASY AND HORROR EVENT

2012 sees the first Discover Festival taking place at Snibston Discovery Museum, Coalville. The festival will be presenting a wide range of author readings, panels, writing workshops and much more featuring some of the leading writers, editors and agents in science-fiction, fantasy and horror.

Discover Festival runs from Friday 18th-Sunday 20th May 2012 and includes access to a host of activities throughout. The first Guest of Honour confirmed for the event is bestselling science-fiction writer Peter F Hamilton, who has sold over two million books worldwide to date, including the popular Greg Mandel trilogy and Commonwealth saga novels.

Event organiser Alex Davis said: 'I'm really excited to be bringing the Discover Festival to Snibston, which is a fantastic venue for a big event like this. The weekend will be perfect for existing fans of science-fiction, fantasy and horror, as well as those with just a casual interest or looking to explore this exciting area of fiction more.'

David Sprason, Leicestershire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Adults and Communities, said 'We're delighted to be hosting this new event at Snibston Discovery Museum, and looking forward to welcoming some really exciting writing talent to the venue. We expect this to be a fantastic addition to our year-round programme.'

Tickets for Discover Festival are £45 and cover all activities over the weekend – for booking and more information visit www.discoverfestival.co.uk or email discoverevent@hotmail.co.uk
