Im 22 and a recent graduate. i expect i'd be 31 with a wife and a mortgage when "A Dream of Spring" comes out.

how old will you be? where will you be? Do you think we'd love ASOIAF as much as we do now?

The last book will likely come out in 2014 or 2015, so I'll be 35 or 36. And unless things go catastrophically wrong, I think I'll still love the series. It may be worth revisiting this opinion after ADWD comes out though.

Assuming the worst; that is, Martin doesn't finish Dance until 2009, doesn't finish The Winds of Winter until 2012 and pops out A Dream of Spring in 2015 (and that's not even the worst, not really), then I will be 37. Honestly I could be 40 before I read Spring.

i must be living under a rock, i had no idea Martin had released titles for the next handful of books. (although i did see Dance with Dragons on Amazon for next October!!!!)

i used to say "i want to be a mother before i'm 30". well, that ain't gonna happen. but now I can say "I'll be a mother before ASOIF ends.", and there's a good chance of that happening.

well if it comes out in 2015 that will make me 29.

I'll be 25 if it comes out in the year 2015

As to still being interested in ASOIAF I can only hope it will be with the same passion as today.

I had no idea all the Martin readers on this site were so young! Gosh, I feel like an old man now.

I was 21 when I started reading the books. I'm 28 (nearly 29) now. If the last book comes out in 2015, I will be 36. OH MY GOD!

Slightly off topic:
It's weird to think that there are only 2 more books, after Dance! I think the fact that its taking so long has made it seem like there are so many books left to write. Only 2 more after Dance makes me both happy and sad. Happy, because I believe Martin can definitely complete the series (its only 2 more books, for crying out loud), and sad because that means we've already read more than half of it, and it will be over in just a couple more reads! :(

I'm thinking I'll be about 40...and given the ridiculous nonsense going on with NZ house prices (the worst in the developed world) I still won't have a house of my own with my husband...we might have a sprog though...might.

:D

It did occur to me that this series has changed my life. I wouldn't have moved from the UK to Ireland and wouldn't be going to this year's Worldcon if I hadn't started reading ASoIaF.

Weird.

I'm hesitant to say how old I will be when the series will potentially finish, but I will say I was in my first real job after graduating college when I picked up the initial Mass Market Paperback release of A Game of Thrones. This one:

Thanks Takoren and Traceyt1800 I too was feeling pretty old for a while there. I'll be 43 if it ends in 2015.

Which means nothing, lol. Amazon is notorious for posting books which manuscripts haven't even been completed for as a way of getting advanced orders.

xvart.

yeah, i know. :( especially since Martin says, on his website that he hasn't finished the book yet.

so what happens to all the folks who do pre-order DwD, and then it isn't ready yet in Oct?

They die.

Okay, they don't. They just get it when it does come out.

I will be (seeing that the world doesn't end in 2012(lol)) 20-21, depending on when the book comes out.
