New Star Trek Series; you in or out?

I enjoyed both episodes. They aren't without their faults, but it could turn into something very good. I wouldn't pay for a special service to watch it either, if I had to that is.

Just typing after seeing both. We aren't paying for Access All Areas here in the UK, which makes a difference, I think. I enjoyed them both, much more than say the first episodes of The Next Generation or Enterprise, though they were far from perfect. There was a fair bit of clunk in there too. It's clear that there's been money spent, but whether I would've paid to see the episodes, I'm not sure.

I will continue to watch.

Ugh. Encounter at Farpoint was pants.
Yup. I remember thinking that the series would never be anything if there was more like that. (Jellyfish!) Luckily I was wrong - though it took a little while (as Ropie is finding out....)

I cant figure out how to watch the first episode for free, don't see it on my cable's on demand menu, and when I search online it takes me to sign up for cbs all access which requires a credit card even if the first week or whatever is free, no desire to mess with that. Wasn't going to pay for the channel anyway, so I guess whatever?

Luckily here in the UK it's on Netflix. I'm in for now. First two episodes were pleasant surprise. Just wish the Klingons would sound like they actually knew the language rather than saying each word in isolation.

I'll give it a go if it turns up on Netflix in Canada. But I still have about 300 episodes of the older shows to get through.

First episode was on the local over-the-air channel...

"Was" being the key word. I can not find it on the On Demand service of my cable company, and while I didn't spend a ton of time online looking, I didn't see a free, no signup & credit card required, option. Its not on Netflix in US.

Right...ya missed it.

On purpose...never occurred to me it wouldn't make it to On Demand...we'll just as well, wasn't gonna pay anyway!

Agreed....from what I say...a couple of interesting lead characters, but wasn't impressed overall.

You don't need to wait for netflix in Canada. Just go to Space.ca.

Doesn't work in "your region" meaning the USA I guess. Odd choice they have made, since I can't imagine many people will shell out without being able to watch the first episode. That was why they aired it after all. But whatever...I'll wait till it shows up on Netflix, or do without.

As much as I love Star Trek, I feel like it's gone on for long enough. I would rather Firefly come back. But with the death of one of the actors and Joss Whedon dragging his feet, I don't think that's going to happen.

I'm 'in'. First two episodes good, a bit effectsy but intriguing high octane stuff. Then Ep 3 sets the whole thing up and is kind of wonderful, if only for things like Michael's geeky roommate. And the fact our star is a criminal. And Jason Isaacs. Just hope they don't start slowing it all down now. By the way, hasn't Isaacs/Discovery basically (re) invented the infinite improbability drive?
