TV Series or Show You're Watching

I have been watching episodes of the original Rod Serling Twilight Zone. My viewing was occasioned by Trollheart's thread on the subject, plus memories thereof.
Working my way through the series. just watched episode Season 3, No. 34, Young Man's Fancy. Actually I hated the idea and the episode. but it illustrated my general reaction. Take an actual thought and thread a story around it. If you want to pick up a quiet palliative between more vigorous viewing, try it. Available on many streams. I watch it on HULU.

CSI VEGAS
The original series.

Asked my pal to recommend a US crime series and he suggested this.

Buying the seasons on 2nd hand dvds .

Just finished season 4. This was the most consistent season so far. Enjoyed and will continue .

Citadel (2023) . Episode 1. A fun spy-techno-thriller.

Watched three episodes of the Equalizer, with Queen Latifah. Actually didn't expect it to work. The plots are far fetched, super agent vs. murderous rogue billionaires (or in one case super criminal.) But Latifah has her own charm and her doubles do a good enough job that when she kicks thug butt, it's barely believable.
I'll probably keep looking at it intermittently - but not that often. I I do appreciate the humor of going from Edward Woodward, in the show's previous incarnation to Latifah. As great a jump as can be imagined.

Watched a few episodes fo the new "True Lies"series.

It's okay. My wife likes it. I might like it better, but I keep comparing it to Schwarzenegger & Jamie Lee Curtis and this new series is no where near as well acted or as funny. Schwarzenegger's delivery was just spot on for this role and Curtis was the perfect foil.

But I'm a boob tube curmudgeon anyway. So what do I know? The only thing I watch with any regularity lately are movies I've seen a dozen or more times and a couple of history channel offerings (Skinwalker Ranch and Oak Island)

Started on The Diplomat, which seems like The West Wing meets 24. Slow to start, but building nicely. Great casting of Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell.
Great show, just watched the last episode which ends with a bang!

pogopossum ,

I'm following that on a UK free to air channel . A bit of a mixed bag . Looking forward to the gremlins on an airplane wing story starring " THE SHAT "

When Twilight Zone was good it was usually excellent, however, as I discovered through my - so far two season - reviews of the series, by god when it was bad it was BAD. I don't know whether I can even say at this point which outweighs which, but there are times when you literally just have to sit back, rub your eyes and say w to the t to the f? And not in a good way. I guess it was a case of the show was so popular that people would watch it and think "that was s**t but next week's may be better" and keep watching it. Wouldn't happen to day. It's death by first or second episode syndrome now, and not just via viewer. If a show doesn't pull in the ratings on its first season it generally don't get a second. Back then I guess things were kinder in that regard, as the whole idea of a science fiction anthology show was so new. But yet, TZ has a lot to answer for.

Incidentally, my thread will be starting up again soon, so do not adjust your - oh no wait, that was the other one, wasn't it?

"A lot to answer for." Yeah. But they did it better than the half dozen previous anthologies and generally better than the next few, So, personally i'd say, "A lot to answer for" is a positive. Even though I do agree that a few shows were, s**t.
And it actually had a humorous tone in some episodes. Something to applaud.

And Uber. I do disagree with looking forward to the SHAT. And based on his later work, I think that you misspelled it.

Did you know he's in more than that one?

Just finished watching Blue Lights, BBC cop drama set in Northern Ireland, a sort of new recruits on the job deal. Very impressed, and glad they've got a second season.

Got them on Bluray, where they've scrubbed up nicely.

Watchng that now and thoroughly enjoying it.

Edit: No I'm not. I see that's Netflix. The one I'm watching is also called The Diplomat but is a different programme. How odd.

Yes: I nearly made that mistake with adding the trailer there. Your version is from 2006 or something, TH. Be interested to know what it's like, though.

The one I'm watching is really good so far. It's a slight bit unbelievable, like Silent Witness would have you believe all coroners become detectives/cops, but the overall idea is very good. British consul in Spain helps those who need help, while there's an overarching story going on about a British guy who may have been murdered and the thing covered up. I'd recommend it.

My wife and I have been trying to fill the void for British crime drama that Line of Duty left when we finished it. We just got done watching all 3 seasons of Broadchurch. Really amazing show. David Tennant is a great actor. I will say though, it felt like the show kind of wrapped up after season 2, but they just tacked on an extra season they weren't expecting to do.
